A smaller tree, the Prairie Crabapple has an almost gentle appearance when blooming in late spring. The soft and frilly double flowers graduate from a white to delicate shade of pink, resembling rambling roses as they introduce a subtlety to the landscape. It’s an appearance that embodies the freshness of spring, which is further added to by the violet-like perfume. The blossom is followed by small greenish-yellow fruit.
Come Autumn, the colour changes to shades of vibrant red, purples and gold, creating a wonderful contrast against greying skies.
Deciduous, the Prairie Crabapple will grow to between 3 and 4 metres.
Pink buds opening to pale pink-white double blossom.
