Ryland’s Tree of the Month – ACER ‘Globosum’ – Globe Norway Maple 🍁

Welcome to the Fifth Edition of the Staff Tree of the Month Video Series.

After double checking everyone would still receive their trees as promised, Ryland stepped away from his duties managing dispatch and logistics, to talk about his favourite tree.

Selecting the ACER ‘Globosum’ – Globe Norway Maple, Ryland talks about why this tree, with its distinctive global (or spherical) canopy of lush green foliage, makes it to the top of his list.

Hear more about the ACER platanoides ‘Globosum’ as follows;

ACER platanoides ‘Globosum’ – 80lt grade as shown in video (autumn photo)

Also known as the Globe Norway Maple and currently boasting these wonderfully deep greens from spring growth, it is ideally suited to courtyards and urban designs that call for a feature tree, growing in a similar form to the LIQUIDAMBAR ‘Gumball’.  As the seasons change, that deep green gives way to a golden yellow and almost perfect autumnal orange shade, bringing a romantic quality to the setting that makes you want to gaze at it from behind a window, as you enjoy a warming mug of tea and get lost in your thoughts.

Hardy and deciduous, it grows to 6m (untrimmed)
