February 14th is a day that symbolises love, affection, and the bonds we share with those closest to us. It’s a time to reflect on the relationships that bring us joy and support. Interestingly, one tree that resonates with the spirit of love and connection is the ‘Cercis canadensis – Forest Pansy’, commonly known as the Eastern Redbud. This beautiful tree, native to North America, blooms with deep pink to purple flowers early in Autumn, often symbolising renewal and the blossoming of new relationships. The striking beauty of its flowers evoke the idea of love blossoming in unexpected and beautiful ways.
In many ways, the ‘Cercis canadensis’ can be seen as a metaphor for love itself. Its flowers remind us that love can bloom even in the most challenging or unexpected of circumstances. Just as this tree brings colour and life to barren landscapes, love can bring vibrancy and warmth to the coldest moments in life. The ‘Cercis canadensis’ also shares its beauty in clusters, emphasising the importance of community and connection, which are vital elements in both romantic and platonic relationships.

Speaking of connections and community, what better way to celebrate the spirit of unity and collaboration than by organising a team celebration day? Whether it’s at work, within a family, or among friends, coming together to share an experience can deepen bonds and foster stronger relationships. A team celebration day, just like the blossoming of a Redbud tree, provides an opportunity for growth, shared experiences, and a sense of accomplishment as a group. Here are a few photos of our day in Stewart Island fishing with our crew Friday last week.
