Team Spotlight – Let’s Welcome Micah

This year we’re putting a spotlight on the people who keep Easy Big Trees moving. Our team is growing, our systems are evolving and it feels like the right time to introduce the faces behind the work.

First up is Micah, our new Operations Manager.

Micah Watkins

Micah’s career began in specialist brickwork, crafting chimneys, arches and stone masonry. Raised by keen gardeners, he grew up surrounded by plants and trees, which eventually pulled him toward landscaping. What started as a trade became a genuine passion, and over many years running his own business he learnt to multitask, stay adaptive and lead from the front.

Micah’s approach is grounded in ethics, sincerity and integrity, with a simple philosophy to always over deliver. He takes real pride in word‑of‑mouth referrals and loves empowering others, helping people grow their skills and succeed in their own right.

Outside of work, Micah’s world revolves around his wife Trish and their children Stella and Evan. After selling his business in Australia, the family moved to New Zealand for its mountains, forests and the outdoor lifestyle. Climbing, tramping and fly fishing keep him busy, and a childhood love of surfing has returned since settling in Riverton Aparima. At home, Micah and Trish share a love of animals and are enjoying raising Swiss Valais sheep, cows and chickens on their small lifestyle property.

Micah’s practical background, leadership experience and people‑first mindset make him a strong addition to Easy Big Trees. His ability to balance operations with genuine customer care will support our continued growth and help strengthen the systems that keep our nursery running smoothly. His favourite tree, the NOTHOFAGUS fusca – NZ Native Red Beech, reflects his appreciation for strength and the beauty of our native forests, and we’re excited to see that passion flow into his work with us.
