QUERCUS cerris – Turkey Oak
Product Details
Turkey Oak
A broadleaf tree that has spread rapidly in the UK, the Turkey Oak is challenging the reign of the English Oak as ruler of the woodlands. It’s easy to see why, with its spreading pyramidal form of glossy green leaves that have a felty feel to the underside. They change to a coppery-bronze in Autumn, with some leaves lasting throughout winter to punctuate the otherwise white/grey skies. This is the most coastal hardy of the oaks and produces clusters of distinct acorns, adorned in orange to green ‘moss-like’ caps. Deciduous, the Turkey Oak will grow to 10 x 6m.
Suitable for: Avenues, laneways, shelter, specimen and woodland plantings.
Features: The most coastal-hardy oak.
Botanical Name: QUERCUS cerris
