Warren

Warren is one of those steady, capable people who can turn his hand to almost anything. In Production and Tree Care he supports both nursery work and retail, bringing more than eighteen years of reliable, consistent effort to the team.

Before joining Easy Big Trees, Warren built up a wide range of practical skills that show in the way he works. He’s hands‑on, detail‑minded and quick to spot what needs doing, whether that’s shaping young stock, preparing trees for dispatch or helping customers choose the right specimen.

Around the nursery he’s known for his calm approach and willingness to pitch in wherever he’s needed. That versatility makes him a key part of keeping things running smoothly through the busy seasons.

Outside work, Warren is either playing the bagpipes or out on his motorbike, making the most of the Southland outdoors.

FAGUS sylvatica – English Beech

In his short video he explains why this stately, cathedral‑like tree sits at the top of his list, with its fresh green Spring canopy and copper‑gold Autumn colour. It’s a tree of real presence, whether grown as a feature specimen or shaped into a formal hedge.

Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Tamukeyama’ is easy to love because it stays beautiful across the Seasons, holding a deep purple red through Spring and Summer before flaring into a fiery red in Autumn, and when you place it beside a pond or water feature its weeping, lacy form brings a gentle calm to the whole space. People often choose it as a favourite because it’s compact, dependable and quietly transformative, becoming one of those small feature trees you notice every day.

Cornus ‘Greenvale’ becomes a favourite because it offers something new across the Seasons, starting with its upright form carrying generous cream flowers from Spring well into Summer before shifting to strawberry like fruit. The semi evergreen foliage adds to its appeal, moving from mint green to touches of orange and red in Autumn, so it always feels lively and changing. In full sun and good drainage it performs reliably, settling in as a strong, attractive feature that people grow fond of year after year.

Ulmus procera ‘Louis Van Houtte’ becomes a favourite because it has that classic, old world presence people connect with, carrying a distinctive, slightly asymmetrical branch pattern that gives it character rather than formality. The bright green leaves add to its appeal, small and strong in shape, and in Spring the tree offers subtle hanging tassels of pink to red flowers that feel like a quiet bonus rather than a showy display. Hardy, dependable and full of personality, it settles in as a fine specimen that feels both nostalgic and uplifting, the kind of elm people grow fond of over time.
