Team Spotlight – Meet Linette

Every nursery has someone who brings steady energy to the day, someone who makes people feel at ease and keeps the wheels turning behind the scenes. At Easy Big Trees, that person is…

…Linette, Marketing Co Lead

Linette Tatupu

Linette’s connection to plants started early. She grew up on her family’s plantation in Samoa, surrounded by tropical growth and a lifestyle shaped by the outdoors. That background gave her a natural understanding of how plants grow, how people connect with them and how landscapes tell their own stories.

Her journey took her from the warmth of Samoa to the rugged beauty of Stewart Island, where she worked as a nature guide. There, she spent her days helping visitors understand the plants and environments unique to the deep south. It was hands‑on, people‑focused work that shaped the way she communicates and shares knowledge today.

Joining our Southland nursery brought her a little closer to the tropics again (even if only by a few degrees), and she’s become a key part of our team. Linette brings calm, clarity and a genuine warmth to her role, whether she’s supporting clients, shaping our marketing or helping tell the stories behind the trees we grow.

The photo we’re sharing in this spotlight was taken just before she headed off on maternity leave. These days, much of her time outside the nursery is spent with her daughter Rinoa, exploring the outdoors and enjoying the balance between family life and the natural world.

DACRYDIUM cupressinum - Native Rimu

For this spotlight, Linette chose the Rimu. With its fine, drooping foliage and graceful form, it’s a tree that brings quiet beauty to any landscape. It’s a classic of Aotearoa’s forests and a favourite for those who appreciate native structure and longevity. We’ve paired her spotlight with a photo of the Rimu to highlight its character and presence.
