A symbol of good luck, lime trees were often planted along the roadside by Royal decree and thought to bring a bountiful harvest. They are also thought to bring love, often being symbolically in romantic poetry. That is no doubt related to the beautiful heart-shaped leaves that really are the most enticing shade of healthy green in summer. Flowering in summer, they are naturally upright and rounded, and may be trained into a pleached avenue. They’re also perfectly suited to street plantings or as a specimen tree.
Suitable for: Pleached avenues, street and specimen planting, shade.
Features: Larger heart-shaped leaf, upright rounded form.
