NZ Native Red Beech or Tawhairaunui
A native beach recognizable by its small, sharply toothed leaves with visible reddish veins. During dry periods and towards winter, those serrated leaves turn red and exhibit a glossy or leathery look. An excellent screening tree, with attention and trimming it can also make for a very handsome and impressive hedge. Evergreen and medium frost hardy, it will grow to 8 x 4m.
Suitable for: Group and specimen planting, hedging and screening.
Features: Foliage turning to brilliant red in winter and during drier spells.
