NZ Native Southern Rata

The brilliant red flowers of summer are filled with tufts of stamens, giving them a brush-like appearance in smaller examples of this native. In mature versions, those flowers, now on an attractive multi-stem branching structure, can make the tree foliage appear almost completely red. It’s fiery and intense. Perfect for a feature tree or in small group planting situations. A hardy evergreen, this native will grow to 3 x 2m, unbothered by the cold and frost.
