Famed for having the most brilliant colour of all American Oaks, the scarlet red displayed in Autumn is most alive on frosty mornings, as if trying to warm the air. At other times of the year, the leaves are a lustrous green and sharply lobed. It’s a striking appearance that makes for a wonderful specimen tree or use as an avenue or laneway tree. Some copper coloured leaves are retained during winter and this tree will withstand harsh conditions, including droughts.
