Hollywood Juniper⭐

Flush with the success of being asked a few questions as a result of last week’s email, Harry has gone all ‘showbiz’ on us.  Well, as showbiz as Harry gets anyway.

This week’s ‘Harry’s Tree of the Week’ is known as Hollywood Juniper.  It’s a tree destined to play a starring role in a garden or makes for a blockbuster street planting.  It can be pruned and shaped to take on virtually any character, making it the perfect choice to add some drama to the front of a property, where it will attract attention and loving gazes.

JUNIPERUS chinensis 'Kaizuka' - Invercargill, July

When not being called by its stage name, the Hollywood Juniper actually goes by the equally attractive name of Juniperus ‘Kaizuka’.  An evergreen conifer, it has a zen-like twisty form made from bright green foliage arranged in tight clusters.  Tiny yellow flowers appear in spring, followed by small green cones.

The Hollywood Juniper is suitably hardy and can tolerate a wide range of growing conditions, eventually reaching up to 3 x 2.5m.
