Back into the swing of it

The EBT Crew are back and easing themselves into nursery life again. We thought to share some of the fun and adventures the crew have enjoyed over the break…

Shoni had a big trip up to the North Island, getting in the sights and scents of the hot pools. Also stepping in the ‘Gumboot Capital of the World’.

Joel headed up the Nevis Valley Track for a bike ride. Managed to spot some Native Speargrasses ‘Aciphylla colensoi’ on his circuit.

Ryland stuck to home base, taking advantage of the sunny days adding to his topiary setting which is looking amazing.
Also enveloping a bit of ‘False Goat’s Beard’ [Astilbe] here and there.

Sam took refuge in Central Otago, spotting places like Glendhu Bay for Christmas and rounding up her teens for a dip in Mavora Lake.

Cherie managed to catch the Southern Lights ‘Aurora Australis’ in amazing detail on the 2nd of January.
Another late night for ringing in the new year. 

Chris swung over to Monkey Island for some ‘R&R’, no monkeys seen except a sea dog waiting for his next wave.

Barney had an expedition down to Omaui for some solitude. Spotting the Rata’s in full bloom this time of year and enjoying Southland’s beautiful coastline.

Speaking of the Rata you may have noticed yourself, how fiercely vibrant the Ratas have been flowering lately. Which is a nice sight to see in these varying Summer days. If you have not, or wish to have that fiery red close by, we recommend including this rare gem in your garden project.

A part of the Myrtle family, this tall forest tree has masses of crimson red flowers in summer. Most popularly inhabiting most of the South Island. Once used by Māori for its roots, used for Groper Hooks and the bark also used for cuts and wounds.
