Choosing a favourite season is an almost impossible task. How does one choose between the romance of Autumn and the nostalgia of Winter days spent hugging a mug of steaming coffee, peering out the window and daydreaming.
That said, many might well daydream of the Spring and Summer to follow, when optimism creeps like the sunlight across the landscape. Indeed, Spring and Summer tend to merge together in the mind, as thoughts drift to planting and then onto lazy days enjoying the results of all that hard work.
Where Spring and Summer definitely merge is in our new catalogue. We’ve combined the seasons to create a handy reference and inspiration guide for the sunnier days. In it, you’ll find everything needed to create a world of beauty. You’ll also find this week’s tree, which is currently putting on its most vibrant show of the year.
MALUS ‘Flamingo’ – Upright Deep Pink Crabapple
The deep pink flowers of Spring have a rare intensity, arranged along sky-searching branches to produce a narrow form that demands attention. The new foliage changes from red to dark green during Summer, before cycling through coppers and golds in Autumn, when that red returns for a final, fiery show. This ‘Flamingo’ stands out and makes for a wonderful deciduous specimen tree.
- Deciduous tree
- Suitable for specimen planting
- Grows up to 3.5 metres.
