FRAXINUS ‘Raywoodii’ – Claret Ash🍷🍁

Originating from South Australia (circa 1910), the Fraxinus Raywood – Claret Ash, is well known for its striking autumn colour.  The wonderfully narrow, serrated leaves change to a wine-red, reminiscent of a Claret.  The deep, rich red is something to behold.  And whilst it might not be as intoxicating as a glass of wine, there is certainly a potent charm to this Autumnal display.

During the summer, the foliage is green and glossy, providing some dappled shade below.  The full, rounded canopy comes as the tree matures.  A young Claret Ash is narrow, with an upright crown, but it grows quickly to realise a medium sized height (10x5m).  Deciduous, it makes for a great tree in dry, compacted soil conditions, and is suited for use in urban and avenue planting.
