Stunning PYRUS ‘Candelabra’ 🧡🍂 – 7th June 2021

Winter brings clear, calm days (along with the cold!) Here we have a beautiful picture taken by Barney on one of his Central Otago sales trips – this was a small lake just out of Alexandra.

PYRUS calleryana ‘Candelabra’ – Columnar Ornamental Pear

As the last of the Autumn colour trees start to drop their leaves, we have one tree who ‘leaves’ it to the last minute to put on its colour show!

PYRUS calleryana ‘Candelabra’ – Columnar Ornamental Pear, is a select variety with a neat upright form. As shown above in Remarkables Park, Frankton. One of the last trees to have autumn colour, this tree can even tend to be semi-evergreen in some places!

Glossy oval dark-green leaves turn vibrant shades of red and orange through autumn. White flowers in spring. Very wind tolerant. Grows in both dry and poor soils. Makes an ideal street or feature tree.
