FAGUS sylvatica ‘Riversii’ – Rivers Copper Beech

Product Details

Rivers Copper Beech

Originally found native in the woodlands of Southern Europe, it made its way to the United States in the 1700s, where it has been used extensively as an ornamental shade tree. It’s not hard to understand why. The foliage is glossy and resplendent in a purple that is somehow more purple than other beeches. That is until the leaves fade to an almost block before dropping cleanly. Handsome and domed, it makes for an excellent park or specimen tree, and is also suited to avenue and street plantings. Deciduous, it will grow to 10m.

Suitable for: Parks, specimen, avenue and street planting.

Features: Deep purple almost black foliage in summer with a clean leaf drop in autumn.

Botanical Name: FAGUS sylvatica ‘Riversii’
