FAGUS sylvatica ‘Purpurea’ – Copper Beech

Product Details

Copper Beech or Purple Beech

The deep purple of the summer leaves is dramatic and distinctive. This is not a tree to shy away from sight. It’s unabashed and even as the deep purple gives way to Autumn’s coppery tones, it retains a presence that is unmistakable. The leaves themselves are oval, with soft hairs at the fringes. But come winter, sharp buds appear as the tree looks to set itself up for another seasonal show cycle. The unique looks make for an impactful feature tree but it can also be trimmed back to a hedge or formal screen. It will lose its leaves in winter, growing to a stately 8m in height if allowed.

Suitable for: Parks, avenues and street planting, hedging.

Features: Stunning deep purple foliage in summer.
