Mountain Hawthorn
Also known as Chinese Hawthorn. A hardy, deciduous tree with white flowers emerging in late spring followed by large, edible berries in autumn. These berries are traditionally used in Chinese medicine. Deep green leaves which turn to yellow then red in autumn. Suitable for coastal areas and will tolerate most soils. Ideal as a specimen/feature tree. Clips well into a hedge – many examples of this in central Otago. Very hardy, deciduous, grows to 5 x 5m.
Suitable for: Hedging & screening
Features: White flower, and berry. Great autumn colour.
